I’ve been on a bit of a music buying spree lately. Usually I just download music the naughty way (torrents) and then claim that I will actually buy the album if I like it. Most of the time I like the album but forget(…) to buy it. I’ve had a bit of extra cash lately though so I figured I’ll make up for all the naughties. One for me, one for the lady, and one more for me. One CD and two in mp3 form via iTunes. This is gonna be fun until I run out of money again.

Winter Radness #1
Wednesday, December 14th, 2005My annual winter semi-depression has reared its ugly head back into my brain (a little later this year than the last few). Theres something about the snow, lack of sunlight, lack of skating, and lack of overall cool shit that just gets to me this time of year. So far the best way I’ve found to ward it off is to surround myself with stuff that is rad, so I’m gonna try to post some things everyday this week that get me through these cold, snowy days. Kind of like a late Thanksgiving list I guess.
Things that make winter suck less list #1:
- Pixies - Trompe Le Monde - For whatever reason, I never really gave this album a chance. Something just clicked one day last week when listening to it and its been getting about 2 rotations per day since then. My new favorite Pixies album? Possibly.
- digg.com - digg’s got the best/funniest/weirdest tech news of any site I’ve been to. Peep it.
- Coors Light - The beer, not the website. After a few cans, it makes you feel awesome/handsome/cool and you also forget that its winter. Milk can not do that.
More winter radness tomorrow.
Chuck Norris and the Mysterious Panther
Thursday, December 1st, 2005If you watch Conan O’Brian, make sure to click this link: Chuck Norris eats God for breakfast.
At last, the world can finally view what Tha Panthurr (so gangster) has been working on while not out predatoring (?) the jungle at night: Sharpening up his mini-ramp skills and rocking out with his band
Endless burn
Wednesday, September 21st, 2005Last night I had to burn a bunch of CDs for a friend, which I usually use iTunes for. And since my iBook is currently out of commission, I’ve been back to using my PC again. Apple just released the newest version of iTunes (iTunes 5.0.1) so I figured I’d download it for my PC and use it to do my burning. The new release is supposed to fix a variety of bugs and offer some stability improvements for PC users. Anyway, the download and install all went fine and a few minutes later I’ve got the application up and running. So I pop in the first blank CD and click the Burn button. Everything seems to be going fine and since I had a bunch of homework to finish, I minimized iTunes while the CD was burning to work on some word processing. A couple of minutes later, I maximize iTunes again to see how far the burning has to go and its about 2/3 of the way through. I watch the little meter on top that tells you what track it is burning and how many minutes are left and it doesn’t seem to be moving like it was. Pretty soon the “time left” meter starts increasing instead of decreasing and my CD burner starts slowing down. I decided to let it continue doing this, thinking that it will maybe start flying again soon; but five minutes later the time left is still increasing. That was enough for me so I hit eject on the cd burner and waited for the tray to open. Two minutes later and I’m still waiting… I clicked the eject button on iTunes thinking maybe that would override it. Nope. Disc is still inside cd burner spinning away. So I quit iTunes through the task manager and the f’ing CD is still whizzing away inside the burner. At this point I’ve tried to eject the CD every possible way there is and I’m ready to restart the computer. Start, shut down, restart, ok. More waiting and then the desktop icon for iTunes starts flashing all crazy-like and the computer still does not want to restart. Oh yeah, the CD was still happily spinning away. No more waiting for me, I held in the power button for my PC and a few seconds later, that worthless CD finally stopped its endless spin.
Anyway, after going through this same process two more times, I realized that the problem started whenever I would maximize iTunes after minimizing it. I got my first successful burn by leaving iTunes minimized through the entire burn process and 14 CDs later I was done.
The point of this rant: either my PC is dumb or iTunes is. And I need to figure out when you are supposed to start a new paragraph.
Floaters
Thursday, September 8th, 2005So I always wondered what those damn things were. Guess I know now.
Whoa! This one kinda came outta nowhere… The elusive Shitpants makes an appearance online of all places. I honestly didn’t think the dude even knew how to operate a computer. Apparently he even has an email address!?!?
On a less odd and unexpected note, football season officially starts tonight and life is good again. I thought about joining one of those fantasy football leagues this year but it seems like the people that join them can never root for one team cuz there’s always someone on the other team that is on their fantasy team. That was confusing. Exactly why I didn’t bother to join one.
One more thing. The Rolling Stones are doing a pre-game performance thing right now and it honestly looks like they are melting.
No Color
Thursday, August 4th, 2005Well my new/replacement iPod came today and unfortunately they didn’t give me one of those neat colored ones. I gotta say that I am impressed with their promptness though. I sent them the iPod on Monday morning and they had the new one to me by 2pm today. Bummer that I lost all my music on that thing. I’ve been loading it up with music since about 6 o’clock tonight and I still only have like a quarter of my music collection on it. It was fun for about 5 minutes cuz I forgot about some albums that I really like but now it is just getting lame. Blah, nothing new lately.
They Make Lots of Beer Here
Friday, July 8th, 2005In Milwaukee right now and I just checked out the site to see if anyone posted any comments and noticed that the post below this never got published. Apparently I clicked “Private Post” instead of “Publish” and I’ve been the only one that could see it. But, it’s there now so read it and click on the links cuz it takes work copying those buggers into here.
Anyway, we saw the Pixies last night and other than the fact that 75% of the people there were there to see Weezer, it was good. After the Pixies played we decided to skip out on Weezer and spend 6 dollars on cheese curds. Tonight we are off to eat some tacos and test some of that beer that Milwaukee is so famous for.
