No Color

Thursday, August 4th, 2005

Well my new/replacement iPod came today and unfortunately they didn’t give me one of those neat colored ones. I gotta say that I am impressed with their promptness though. I sent them the iPod on Monday morning and they had the new one to me by 2pm today. Bummer that I lost all my music on that thing. I’ve been loading it up with music since about 6 o’clock tonight and I still only have like a quarter of my music collection on it. It was fun for about 5 minutes cuz I forgot about some albums that I really like but now it is just getting lame. Blah, nothing new lately.

So I’m on break at work today, doing a little web lurking and I go to Fox Sports. Packer season is coming up you know, hey. Anyway, I go to click on one of the main links right on the front page and as my mouse hovers above the story I’m about to click on, the text for the link disappears! “Well, that is odd. It was just there” I said to myself. So I move my mouse away from the link and just like magic, it reappears! Knowing a little bit of HTML and CSS myself, I right away realized that the link I was trying to click has a CSS attribute that makes the link turn white when you put your mouse over that. But I couldn’t help but wonder how many people with less web experience might have this occur and wonder what is going on. I mean it is totally possible that someone could have their mouse at a certain position on the screen when the page is loading and it could be sitting right on top of a link to one of the big sports stories of the day and the person could never see it. Now I’m all for the hover affect in most cases; it looks neat and most importantly, makes the link you are above stand out from the rest of the links on the page. But in this case, it is doing the complete opposite of both of those. Huh.

Was that my longest post ever? I think so. Day one of iPodless life went alright. Work was definately boring though. Meh.

Pisser

Well, after 9 months of being able to ignore people by pretending I couldn’t hear them over my music, my trusty ‘ole 4g iPod decided to take a crap on me. I connected it to my iBook to charge last night, just like every other night, except this morning when I woke up, it didn’t want to. It was showing a little folder with an exclamation point and making sad clicking noises. I’m pretty sure the hard drive tinkered out on the little guy. Lucky for me, Apple has a pretty good customer service and they are probly gonna replace it with a new one for me. Oh yeah, I had to pay $60 to get AppleCare though but at least now I’ll have another year of free repair/shipment. I guess the reason that I’m not more upset about it is that I’m kinda hoping they send me one of those new color ones. This is gonna be a sad week or two as I’m going to see how much I rely on a dumb little piece of metal to make my ears happy. Blah.

One more thing, Navy Boy is coming home this Sunday to spend a few weeks in Wisconsinland. Is the Dells still on Navy Boy? Bring your shred stick so we can miss some tricks at the Medford skatepark. I guarantee that I will post video of one of those classic Czerniak nasal sliders by next weekend. Should be good times. Tata everyone.

Hella Links

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. When I saw these photos today I thought of quite a few words, two of them being “fucking stupid”. Now I love my iPod, but this shit is just taking it too far. What’s next? Video clips of dudes jerking off onto their iPods? This just really upsets me. Like, can you imagine the thought process that this broad went through before doing this? “Hmmm, I think it would be neat to take all of my iPods, dress them up like people, and take pictures of them doing human things.” She coulda at least taken some funny ones like an iPod sitting on the can reading a newspaper or like one all covered in blood in a crashed up car or something.

This dude takes some pretty pictures. Check them out.

Hopefully none of you (three of you now?) tried anything like this on Monday. Then again, that is the kind of shit that we woulda done a few years ago when we were cool.

We found this site by accident a couple of weeks ago. You can catch up on all the celebrity gossip and get some good laughs there. The dude that writes for the site has some serious hatred for Kirsten Dunst.

Those goddamn ants are back today. They invaded the cat’s dish while we were at work so I stomped on the bastards and flushed them down the toilet along with the contents of the bowl. That might be the most disgusting photo I’ve ever taken. Done.

Montage

Thursday, June 30th, 2005

The Official Squirrel Titties Montage is now up in the movies section. Here’s some tidbits of information about the montage:

  • all the footage is about 1 to 2 years old
  • my steadyshot was on for every fisheye shot (hence the bouncing vignetting)
  • the music is Blondie “Heart of Glass”
  • i filmed 40% of my own footage because my friends can’t hold a camera still
  • order of stick riders: Schuyler Gantert, Julian Twin, Tony Cappadonna, Ryan Warful, Feng, Jason Bucki, Zach Koss, Matt Athonabuttafuco, MFB
  • it will be at least 4 months before i collect enough footage to make another montage so enjoy this fucker

Well that was fun. Anyway, the new iTunes is out now and it supports podcasts. If it weren’t for podcasts, i honestly don’t know how i would make it through a single day at work. Most of the popular podcasts are kinda lame but there are definately some keepers. Here’s a few podcasts that help me get through my shitty office job:

  • Free Talk Live - This one is my favorite. Its a couple of Libertarian dudes bitching about politics six nights a week. Before i discovered this podcast, i really had no clue what Libertarianism was or what they stood for but after listening to these guys for a day or two, i don’t know how anyone could not feel that this is the way to go.
  • MacCast - This guy seriously loves Macs. He is such a geek but you can’t help but love him.
  • Dailysonic mp3 Zine - This is a tri-weekly podcast outta New York i think. They talk about the news, review good music, and have a funny ass cartoon called “Fuck You Robot”.
  • Skinny on Sports - As you can guess, this one is a sports podcast. If you don’t like sports, you won’t like this one. Der. Its a weekly podcast by two brothers and they keep it short (10 min) and sweet. Ah yeah, their intro loop is good too.

If you have an mp3 player and dig talk radio, check those bitches out. Huh, i just did a review of podcasting and i didn’t even mean to. Shit i can’t even remember what i was gonna write about.
