Comments are hot!

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

So you might have noticed that the comments have been on the increase lately. Since I’ve noticed this phenomenon, I’ve been trying to figure out why they just picked up all of a sudden. I can remember going a week or two with no comments on any of the posts. After a little investigation, I think I’ve come up with the answer. The amount of comments increase proportionately with the amount of pictures of me dressed up as a woman posted on the site. Like this:

New photo page

Saturday, November 5th, 2005

The photo page got a makeover last night and is now a stream of my flickr account. Like I said before, there is probably many different ways to pull something like this off but thanks to this handy little plug-in, all it took was changing a few chunks of code and adding some of my own to reach the desired effect.

The front page of the site will display the four most recent images in my account and the image page will display the twenty most recent images. This is all done dynamically ala’ PHP and Javascript so I no long have to hard code the HTML and Javascript for each image I add. All I do now is drag my images into my flickr uploader and they automagically appear on the site. Neat.

The only problem that I see so far is that the images are ordered by the date that they were taken instead of the date that I uploaded them. Most of the time this would be no biggie, but if I ever want add an ‘oldie but goodie’ it will get stuck into the middle of the list instead of the top. I can get around it by modifying the ‘date taken’ date but that kind of defeats the purpose of even sharing that information.

Jarhead was sold out last night, buzzkill. Thats it. Go Badgers. Go Bucks too.

What to do

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

I’m struggling with what to do with the Images area of this site. It is just too much of a hastle to crop all new images to the same size and create the html/javascript that goes along with each one. I’m too busy/lazy to deal with all that crap so I’m thinking about just using a Flickr account to store all my images and then using some kind of WordPress plug-in or something to display the newest ones to the front page of this site or something. But like I said before, I’m lazy/tired so who knows when I will get to it. Back to Drawn Together.

Flock it

Friday, October 21st, 2005

So Flock is available for download today and it seems neat so far. This is pretty much just a test to see if the nifty little “Create a blog post” button works.

Huh

This is just straight up ridiculous. Wow.

Photo

Monday, September 26th, 2005

Everytime I see one of this guy’s (left column, Brian Gaberman) photos, I wish I still took photos. But then I realize that none of my photos would have ever been as good as his are, and I continue not taking pics.

So I was at looking at this site today at school and realized how aweful the title graphic looked. I purposefully blurred it in photoshop and it really did look rad on my laptop. But as I’ve been slowly learning, those damn LCD laptop screens are lying tramps. That title looked like hell. It is fixed now. No more blurs.

Oh yeah, I’ve got a new video clip that I’ve been meaning to put up, maybe tonight.

Breakin’ my heart

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

Packers, you’re killing me here.

The index page is now valid XHTML strict. Whoomp. I can’t figure out how to get those ugly white bullets from showing up in the categories and archive area. Any ideas?

Seriously though, Packers. Come on. Breakin’ a guy’s heart…

Better?

dabootski.com, where your comments can make a difference.

More changes coming. Oh yeah, and those awful black commas between the categories will be taken care of soon.
